Is there Math?

How can this sculpture "Four-Sided Pyramid" by Sol LeWitt incorporate math into the art room?


Last year I created challenges for students using concepts such as this. I asked them to hypothesize how many blocks were used to create a pyramid that was illustrated on a piece of paper.


What I found interesting was that rather than attempting to build the structure seen in the illustration to solve the problem, they worked in formulas. 

We can fix this in the art room! We MUST fix this!
